1/ I'm reading Security+ study material, because I'm bored, and I just ran across some familiar words. This is just a dumb short mildly interesting thread:

2/ Cipher block chaining (CBC) uses the previous block of cipher data to inform the encryption of the current block. Its a chain of blocks! This prevents identical plaintext blocks from yielding identical ciphertext blocks. Neat.

3/ Encryption operations usually support one of two modes of operating on the data -- block or stream. Get it? Block stream?
